Being a therapist allows me to have a different view of daily interactions. One of those views is the constant engagement of relationships of varying depths and levels, in the coffee shop, walking the street and of course with the loved ones around you.
When I get far enough into the conversation to answer the question of “What is it that you do for work?”, it is usually followed by, “What advice would you give people?”
Luckily for you, reading this post, you will get that piece of advice. When wanting to engage in and build a healthy relationship, the most important aspect that I see in my line of work, is the individuals must have a good if not, decent understanding of themselves. Someone who has a good idea of themselves, will be able to communicate to their partner, to others, in a more effective way and not have to go through a negative patten to get their needs met by the other person.
So, what is it that you do to gain understanding of yourself?
