One of the chapters in my recently finished book (still working on publishing) outlines in detail, nine attributes of elite athletes that summarizes what I have experienced in others that I have played with, worked with and done research on.
These nine attributes are things that I eventually help my clients to understand and implement into their athlete selves. These nine attributes are:
1: Vision
2: Identity
3: Confidence
4: Competitiveness
5: Regulation of emotions / thoughts
6: Motivation
7: Constant Growth
8: Consistency
9: Resiliency
There is no right way of implementing these factors into your athlete self, as every athlete is different, but to start the process, we need to identify these by definition. As an athlete what do these mean to you? What do they look like when you are in competition? These should be the basic building blocks to your athlete self and growing it in a direction that you want it to. Don’t have an idea of how to define these, look to your favorite athletes and their attributes. Do they possess these qualities, what do they look like then?
As I am in talks to have this book published, be sure to share this with some of your athlete networks and subscribe for notifications as I begin to make these posts more regularly and with enough information to help you as an athlete without needing the book or therapeutic help initially! Lastly, what other qualities do you think there are among elite athletes that aren’t on this list?
