Chapter 5: The Fuel

Fuel is something that everyone needs to do anything in life. The fuel is the motivation. Sports require putting yourself, day in and day out, in positions of scrutiny, setbacks and attacks on views of self. Normally positions that we avoid in every other role in life. On top of that, you are risking injury, constantly pushing your body on days you don’t want to, to taking time out of your life that majority of others don’t have to do.

You need motivation to keep yourself striving to be the best version of yourself and to stay competitive on the days that are more rough than others. There is no shortage of motivation, you just need to find what motivation brings the best out of you.

We have extrinsic motivation and intrinsic motivations to choose from. We have short term, immediate and long term motivations. We have physical and intangible motivations. There is motivation everywhere but needs to be able to speak to you in times of need.
